Instagram is one of the most popular social media platforms, with over 1 billion active users. It’s a great place to share your life, your passions, your business, and your creativity. There are 3 main types of profiles on Instagram: personal, business, and creator. In this blog post, we’ll dive into each type of profile, their unique features, and how to choose the right one for your needs.
WHAT TYPES OF INSTAGRAM PROFILES ARE AVAILABLE?
Personal Profile
A personal profile is perfect for individuals who want to use Instagram to share their personal life with friends and family. These profiles are designed for non-commercial use and are perfect for those who don’t have a business or brand to promote. Personal profiles have access to all of Instagram’s features, including Stories, Reels, Grid posting and Instagram Live. They can also be set to private, so only approved followers can see your posts for additional security.
Business Profile
A business profile is designed for businesses and brands. This type of profile has access to Instagram’s business tools, including insights, ads, and shopping features. Business profiles also have a “contact” button that makes it easy for users to reach out to the business directly. To set up a business profile, you need to have a Facebook page for your business or brand. This allows you to connect your Instagram and Facebook accounts, making it easier to manage your social media presence.
If you also have a business profile on Instagram you could also make the most of their latest feature, Lead Gen forms. Visitors to your profile will be able to fill out these forms, and it will make receiving enquiries easier for your business.
Some businesses have decided that they prefer using the personal profile instead, however it is important to note that they will not have access to the insights of the account.
Creator Profile
A creator profile is designed for content creators and influencers. This type of profile has access to features that help creators grow their audience and engage with their followers. Creator profiles have access to insights, which can help you understand your audience and track your growth. They also have access to Creator Studio, which allows you to manage your content, schedule posts, and track your performance. Creator profiles also have access to features that allow them to monetise their content such as branded content.
The Creator Profile preference was first launched by Instagram in late 2018. Currently, all users can choose to have a creator profile despite having 1 follower or 10,000 followers.
Which Profile Should You Choose?
Choosing the right profile type for your needs depends on your goals and how you want to use Instagram. If you’re an individual looking to share your personal life with friends and family, a personal profile is the best choice. If you’re a business or brand looking to promote your products or services, a business profile is the way to go. If you’re a content creator or influencer, a creator profile is the best choice for growing your audience.
Switching to a different type of profile is very easy to do. To make this change:
- Tap on the three-line icon at the right top corner.
- Click on the Settings icon below the screen.
- Choose the Account option and then click on the “Switch to Creator Account” or “Switch to Personal Account” icon option.
- Verify the details of your profile.
Do you need help managing your social media?
Social media management companies can help you save time and resources by managing your social media presence for you. They can help create and curate content, schedule posts, monitor and respond to comments and messages, and analyse your social media performance. This allows you to focus on other aspects of your business or personal life while still maintaining a strong social media presence.
When choosing a social media management company, it’s important to consider their experience and expertise in social media marketing, their ability to understand your brand and target audience, their track record of success with similar clients, and their communication and reporting processes.
